Would You Trade Rondo for Wade?
Written by Scott

The Boston Celtics, with Ray Allen's contract coming off the book, we will have a chance to go after a big player.

Dwayne Wade is a guy who is unhappy.  He likes Miami, but they are unlikely to surround themselves with the talent to compete.

However, they are unlikely to have the money to keep their team intact and bring in Wade.

We might have to trade away a player like Rondo to acquire Wade.

I ask all of the Celtics fans out there, if we had a shot of acquiring Wade but to give up Rondo, would you do it?

No, I would NOT include Rondo in a trade for Wade.

A healthy Rondo will lead the league in steals for many seasons into the future, play vastly beter defense than players bigger than himself, and take maximum advantage when the bigger people on the court get sloppy in their boardwork. Add in that his shot, which was admittedly awful his rookie year, is steadily improving.

Wade is a better known player, but a franchise that stood by Dave Cowens despite his being very short for a center should NOT give up on Rondo. The name Larry Bird (who a lot of people thought lacked the jumping ability needed in he NBA) also comes to mind in this context.

I actually agree with you John. Rondo is a heck of a point guard and a great player. Ainge picked him, Ainge loved him, this is our future. He already is one of the best point guards in the league and he is still improving!!!
